Inside Telephone Sales Consultant

We are looking for an Inside Sales Consultant! This position is available at our head office location in Markham within our Book Fairs division. 

Working in a call centre environment with availability to adjust working hours to accommodate flexible business demands is required between 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 pm. Monday to Friday (with an approximate 2 month layoff period in the summer)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Books and confirms all fairs, within a set timeframe, as per individual budgeted sales and revenue targets.
  • Prospecting and retention is a primary focus.
  • Utilizing Salesforce, update and maintain all customer account and contact information.
  • Collaborates with Sales Supervisor to determine prime schools to be contacted for fairs to build fair count and maximize revenue.
  • Responds promptly to customer requirements during course of the fair, including product and procedural information, pick-ups, and general information.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-3 years of telephone sales experience working in a call centre environment, as well as a college or university degree is required.
  • The successful applicant must have an outgoing personality and the ability to work well with others on a team.
  • Candidates require excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills and a professional outlook.
  • The ability to multitask in a fast paced work environment is required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and working knowledge of Salesforce is required.

Inside Telephone Sales Support Trainee

We are looking for an Inside Telephone Sales Support Trainee! This position is available at our head office location in Markham within our Book Fairs division.

Working in a call centre environment with availability to adjust working hours to accommodate flexible business demands is required between 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 pm. Monday to Friday (with an approximate 2 month layoff period in the summer)

This position is responsible for supporting Book Fairs sales through the timely completion of tasks assigned that support the achievement of KPI’s. This role will partner with schools to promote our shared mission for every school to become a Reading School.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete task assignments according to timelines outlined.
  • Adhere to standardized processes and reach objectives for every call type and customer interaction.
  • Maintain systems and database with current and accurate sales / service records.
  • Understand KPI’s and how assigned tasks support their achievement.
  • Upsell Scholastic products and programs during every interaction.
  • Maintain open territories completing all associated tasks such as bookings and all call responsibilities as needed.
  • Qualify, manage and distribute leads (Inquires, webinars etc.)
  • Participates in weekly Branch conference calls to update trends in territory, provide required sales data, review of branch fair scheduling and operational overview.
  • Participates in the weekly sales meetings with Sales Manager and sales team.
  • Must attend and participate in the bi-annual sales conference.
  • Other duties/special projects as requested.

Financial Analyst

An opening exists at the Markham Head Office for the position of a Financial Analyst, reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis within the Finance Division.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Financial reporting: prepare, analyze, and distribute weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc reports as required
  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial budget and quarterly forecasts
  • Preparation and booking of month-end and quarter-end entries
  • Calculating and booking Reading Clubs coupons issued and redeemed
  • Assist in the budgeting/forecasting of Reading Clubs promotions

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in Business, Accounting, Economics or related discipline
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and problem solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (especially Excel)
  • Experience with Oracle and Essbase an asset
  • Great attitude a must with a strong willingness to learn and grow within Scholastic

Production Editor

An opening exists in the Education Division of our Markham ON location for a Production Editor reporting to the Director of Publishing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Editing/Editing of New Product:

  • Move texts from copy-edit stage to production
  • Copy edit and proofread student and teacher materials
  • Check product website pages
  • Work with editors and designers to solve manuscript and/or page layout problems
  • Write or modify art manuscripts
  • Maintain tracking chart for all texts
  • Assign ISBNs for new product
  • Move final files to production to go to printing
  • Check and approve/sign off on printer’s proofs
  • Hire freelance proofreaders/copyeditors
  • Assign and check freelancer’s work; move to the design stage
  • Handle invoices from freelancers
  • Canadianizing texts from Australia, New Zealand, and the US

Reprint Production: 

  • Oversee reprint production
  • Edit materials to be reprinted
  • Work with designers and production team to prep files/material to go to the printers
  • Assist with checking printer’s proofs for reprinted material
  • Maintain and update charts for reprints: possible corrections or updates for future printings
  • Use of AS400 to check titles/stock for new and reprinted product
  • Maintaining library/stock of printed material

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University or college graduate with 2 years related experience
  • Demonstrated communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of computer word processing, mark-up, and database software
  • Attention to detail; a positive attitude and the ability to be a team player are also requirements of this position.
